The new polymer £10 notes featuring Jane Austen have been in circulation for two months now and now the Bank of England has announced the date that the old tenners will cease to be legal tender.
The traditional tenners starring Charles Darwin were introduced 17 years ago back in 2000; they will cease to be legal tender on 1st March 2018. Retailers are advised to bank the notes they receive and nearer the deadline should ensure they advertise the deadline to their customers. More information and retailer leaflets can be found on the tenners dedicated website here.
